Affiliate & editorial disclosure
How we make money, and the lines we won't cross to do it.
The short version: VITALS is free. We earn through affiliate links and sponsorships, both clearly labeled. We test or research everything we recommend, and a commission never changes a ranking.
Affiliate links
Many product recommendations on this site and in the newsletter are affiliate links. If you click one and buy, VITALS may earn a commission — at no extra cost to you. These commissions help keep the newsletter free.
We only recommend products we'd use ourselves. Our rankings are based on evidence, performance and value — not on which program pays the most. Where a product is the right pick, we say so even when it earns us nothing.
Sponsorships
From time to time an issue may include a sponsored placement. It will always be labeled clearly as sponsored, and sponsors never get to edit our reporting or reviews.
Not medical advice
VITALS reports on medicine, health research and health products. It is not medical advice, and nothing here is a substitute for a conversation with a qualified clinician. We report on studies and approvals; we never promise cures, and we link to primary sources so you can check our work.
How we research
Every issue follows the same shape: the news, the context that makes it matter, and an honest verdict — with sources linked. When evidence is weak or a claim is hype, we say so plainly.
